Recap January

January flew so fast. Soon I'm going to say that for February.
Seriously, January felt like a blur.
From what I remember, this is what happened in between:

Started school, piles of homework, EDC Camp, Public Speaking Competition & SejGeoAlamSek Club. :)

For the Public Speaking Competition, Wan and I were the photographer's event. It was interesting to step outside the public speaker's bubble and watch them from far; before, during and after. Before, practically everyone was somewhat in their own world. Some were seen practicing with each other while some were practicing on their own. During the competition itself was the funniest. A handful of them were shaking due to nervousness and read from their script. I enjoyed Syed's speech on AIDS (which he wandered far from the topic), Yi Jean on Setting Goals, Raehan, Mark Lester, James, Qi Zhan's and Patrick. So who won? 1. Anjalee 2. I forgot her name haha sorry 3. YI JEAN! Congrats! Again! :) & Syed for most entertaining. you'll know what I mean when you watch his video on my Facebook page.

Enjoy some of these photos taken during the competition:

EDC Camp 2010

The EDC Family

I'm back from the very first EDC Camp held in Bukit Lagong! It was crazy and fun at the same time. Even though only 25 participants turned up, they rocked the boat! Within two days, they had used their knowledge from the workshops and turn them into magical music.

There was a moment during the jammin' session, I felt the adrenaline rush. The fact that we were making GREAT music out of recyclable instruments made me happy like a kid that has been rewarded with a lollipop. :) or maybe more than that. My body was still moving to the beat no matter how much the sound pounded my head. It was indeed refreshing.

Not only had I made new acquaintances but I had the opportunity to be closer with nature. Especially walking thru the river. :)

I didn't bring my camera to the camp so no pictures till Addin post up some on facebook. Wait soon.

Oh and since each participant had to do a challenge, I want to do mine too. Here they are:

I challenge myself to go vegan twice a month. (For a start)

I challenge my school to put recycling bins around the school. (Please don't hide it!)

I challenge the government to have a No-Car day every month. (If Indonesia can do it, so can we!)

That's all for today guys. Nites :)

Daaniya's 1st

Good Day World!

Forgive me for my absence from blogsphere. Laziness has been a holding me back. :)

Last Sunday, my cousin, Daaniya turned one. So we had a BBQ with close Aunties & Uncles. :) The food was scrumptiously good.

Daaniya trying out her birthday dresses.

Isn't she adorable! :)

I couldn't miss snapping one with her. :)

Turning one is significant. It is because you made it through a year on earth. I wished I remembered the moments when I was one. I'm sure the memory is stored somewhere in my brain. I read somewhere all our memories are in our brain since the day we were born. It's just lingering somewhere in that grey matter of ours.

Capri Capri Capri

Hey,

Yes I have not been updating due to the massive workload in school. I don't blame the teachers, I blame the whole education system. We gotta finish our syllabus by June because trials start in July. *Joy* 8-)

Anyway, I missed out on Capri so let me tell you what Capri's all about:

Capri's an Island off the Western coast of Italy. It's an hour ferry ride from Naples.
Warning: the ferry rides can be nasty due to the choppy waves. Upon arrival we were greeted by a gush of wind. Super cold. and the view: breath-taking. literally. no joke. soaring cliffs, blue sea, squarish white buildings and gorgeous italian men. hahaha it felt like a dream.

Villa Damecuta

We stayed for a night in a villa overlooking Sorrento. Here, you can easily get lost for the roads are small and has many cabangs . Take time to get lost between cobbled alleys but make sure you actually find your way back home after that. :)

View from chairlift

Early in the morning we took the chair lift up to Monte Solaro for picturesque view. the chairlift is crazzeyh but worth the ride. Then came back down for some souvenir shopping.

Later, roamed around Capri.

Mr. Giovanni, our Island boat tour guide

Finally we decided to go down to the port. Took a boat tour around half of Capri. Do not take a boat tour when the sea is rough. Gosh it was a scary experience. Plus we didn't have life jacket on. Half of the time the guy was trying to calm my mum down, it was funny because he kept pointing to these posh private houses to distract us, "look up there, beautiful houses" and "up there" haha yes there are people that rich, filthy rich . I want a house on a cliff over looking the sea! According to the guy, the best time to come is in october, where the weather is perfect and he kisses his ok-shaped finger. *italian gesture* get it? haha nvm.

So that was it. Too short to be true. *sigh* I'm def going back with more company next time. If you do go there: a must see - The Blue Grotto. I missed this one out. dang. next time. . :)

That's all for today friends.
Gnite

p.s. It's my 100th post btw. :)

Back in Action - Rome Part I:

I decided to give my a blog a new outlook in the spirit of 2010.
I can't believe that one day I would actually blog.
In never occurred to me that this was going to happen.
Blogging was an impulsive decision.
But here I am typing away about blogging. hah.

Anyway, so I'm back from Italy. The 4-day trip felt like a dream. We visited a lot of places in such little time. It felt like only yesterday I wandered through the cobble-stoned alley in Rome. In those four memorable days we covered Vatican City and Capri Island.

On the first day, we headed to St. Peters Basilica which is situated within the Vatican City. The Sheraton bus dropped us at the Marcelo's Theatre. As I set my foot out of the bus, I am suddenly overwhelmed by my surroundings. Here's what I saw: ruin of buildings here and there. I feel like I'm being transported back into time. Rome never fails to mesmerize me. It's unbelievable yet believable. ok you get my gist. haha

I mentioned that we covered a lot of places due to the fact that we did a lot of walking. 8 hours on the first day. Only twice did we stop to eat. To add to that, the weather wasn't really helping, it was drizzling occasionally and temperature below 12 degrees. So if you guys are thinking of visiting Rome, the best time would be during Autumn or Spring.

As soon as we reached Vatican City, we bought a ticket to climb up the dome of St. Peters Basilica. It costs 5 Euro by foot or 7 Euro by elevator. We opted for the elevator. The elevator is only the first part of the journey up. The second half was by foot. The steep stairs , tiny spaces between the walls and a low ceiling made the whole experience claustrophobic for me. In spite of that, we were rewarded with such a brilliant view of Rome at the top of the dome. Hey it rhymes! hahaha

The rest of the day was spent roaming around Rome trying to find a decent Ristorante. Enjoy the photos:

Happy New Year,
Anisa
