Just a quick post - to update my non-existent readers. (sadly)

Holiday is ending in 2 weeks time. (I wish someone would stop the time) My holidays have been filled with family time, university application and korean drama marathons!
I wish someone would whisk me to Hawaii or Boracay or somewhere beach-y.
I'm starting to save money for my future road trip in US. CANNOT WAIT. :) God-willing hopefully it'll happen. well first i have to get accepted into a university. haih. life waii u so meann?
Lately, I've been interested in the state of the country.(I mean I have previously but not as concern as today) I actually spent a good two hours with my dad talking bout the current state of Malaysia. It got me questioning about my roots and my stand. Truthfully I don't fully unde aiyah rstand yet what's going on. There's just so many opinions going around and I'm still digesting them. I love Malaysia. I can see Malaysia has a lot of potential to be one of the best countries in the world. I would come back after studying abroad God-willing and contribute to my country. But A LOT THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. corruption seriously needs to stop.. so geram. banyak sangat benda nak diluahkan!

I've left this blog unattended for a month or two. Initially I wanted to delete it but then I thought it would be nice to read it once I'm much older and laugh over my naivety. I've also opened the blog to anyone to read it. Previously I set it to private so that my thoughts were only shared with those I'm familiar with. But now I rarely update this site, so who cares. So if you are a stranger who happened to stumbled upon my blog, well hello there.

ok so anyway, I've just moved out of the house recently to somewhere near Taylor's because it's more convenient to commute to college everyday. I was of course so elated to finally live on my own, independent la konon. Barely three weeks away from home, I'm already homesick. I miss the food. I miss my bed. I miss hot water. I miss my room. I miss internet (for sho) I miss the piano. I miss my family members. Ok so basically the list goes on and on. The other night, I felt so lonely. Like super duper lonely. I didn't have the mood to study. And guess what? The next day I fell sick. Like my body gave up adapting to the new environment. I'm a little scared and fascinated by this. Scared because 'how to go to US like this?' and fascinated because my body was taking over me. It literally didn't like staying away from home and decided to fall ill.

For now I have to just force myself to adapt to the new environment. Like what I learnt from a talk during my orientation in Taylors, Life is unfair. It sucks. So Deal With It! :)

Life in Taylors

Most of you might know that I'm currently studying in Taylor's University - Lakeside Campus. Commonly, I get this kind of reactions 'social hub' or 'wah damn expensive lor, u damn rich right?'. lol. ahh well, despite the fact that it's full of expensive restaurants, truth be told, I like it there. The one factor that stands out is the design of the place. It's not your usual type of buildings in Malaysia. The library is so spacious, people actually sleep innit in between classes. Plus, there are endless of reference books (duh!) which will keep you busy for a looong time. I was very fascinated when I first stepped into the library. I was more excited to absorb as much knowledge here. (ceh) On top of that, they also have a movie screening everyday at the library theatre which is cool. They were showing the 3rd Pirates of the Carribean movie. not bad. :)

Besides the library, there are happenings in Taylors such as the mini flee market they have every two weeks or so. Even though I have not bought anything from there but it's cool because all the latest hip items are sold there such as antique jeweleries latest handbags, secondhand dirt cheap novels, clothes and many more.

Another main attraction of the lakeside campus is *drum rolls* THE LAKE. How can I forget the lake? It's very therapeutic to sit by the stairs facing the lake in the evening. If you do come to Taylors - try it. lol. Oh and they do actually have living organisms innit. I was shocked! haha. Sometimes you see tortoise sunbathing at the edge of the lake. or maybe a fish or two swimming around minding their own business.

In conclusion, I'm happy that I'm in Taylors Lakeside. In spite of what people say about it, I say let's focus in the strength of it, which is what I'm doing. I'm taking full advantage of the facilities here. So that's all for now. Thank you for your time.

Wow so july is already here.

Ramadhan is nearing. I am excited for it - gonna charge my iman for this holy month.

Also, finals is in a couple of weeks. Then, two weeks off. Later, second semester starts.

I might be moving out by mid August to somehwhere near college since it is so inconvenient to go back and forth from home. I pity my Aunt who has to face the jam every morning after sending me. Mama wouldn't allow me to drive, not till the next few months. Me being me also ain't helpful. The road is a terrifying place. I is scared of malaysian drivers. Such reckless drivers. haih.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was the shizz. So stoked I watched it. It ended with a bang. I teared up at a few scenes, so raw and real as if I was part of the whole movie. After this, no more anticipation of waiting for the movie to be released.. :( Nevertheless, the story of the boy who lived will always live in our hearts. To quote the insirational author herself, Rowling,

“Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.”

So proud to be part of the Potter Generation. (Y)

New Zealand

Hi Hi!

I found this halfway written so I decided to finish the rest of it. It's about my short and sweet stay in New Zealand. :) Enjoy.

New Zealand was the bomb.

It stole my heart.

I may be a sucker for nature but. . . who doesn't love being surrounded by fresh air and greenery.

You tell me.

My family arrived in Auckland on a cold Thursday night. We then took a shuttle bus to Royal Plaza where we stayed for the first night.

The next morning, all of us woke up late. Everyone was just tired from the 9-hour flight on the previous day especially Abah who was working.

Auckland reminds me of San Francisco, geographically. The city centre is very hilly. Auckland is just lovely. Access to Halal food is easy. There's plenty of Kebab stores in town. Annd the weather?! Now I understand why weather is actually a topic for a conversation. Weather is to be appreciated. :) It was 15 - 18 degrees celcius and windy too. Perfect weather to go walking.

Anyway, so we rented a car. We drove down south to Waitomo where the famous Glowworm Cave is. Inside the cave is so beautiful. Acoustics are orgasmic in the cave. As we were heading to the mouth of the cave by boat, we saw the famous glow worms everywhere dotted like stars on the ceiling of it. Took my breath away. I was awed by the beauty of it. :')

Due to the short time, we had to leave Waitomo. Or else we could have tried the river rafting in Waitomo itself! Isn't that cool? They call it Black Water Rafting where you raft in pitch black. Adrenaline rush FTW. tee hee. k so moving on, we headed to Lake Taupo for BUNGEE JUMPING! I was pumped up - so excited . . and NO! Deep down I was thinking twice. But in the end, it was worthwhile. Oh rite I just kinda got to the ending so fast. I didn't bungee jump at Lake Taupo. In fact it wasn't a solo jump. It was a tandem jump - with Adam. At night.

I can explain. We were the last to do the jump. And it was freezing cold. So much for being so nervous jumping 40 meters from the ground. To add to that, the cute guy operating the crane told us that it was his first time handling customer at night when we've already reached 40 m high up?! Like 'WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS NOW!' Regardless how cute his dimples was, I was nervous but more excited than ever. So he counted to three, '1, 2, 3,' I looked at Adam and he did the same but with an unforgettable facial expression on his face. It was more like ,"Why the hell did i SIGN UP for this shizz,?" and WHAMMM down we went.

How was it? Your organs feel funny inside , like they are all moving elsewhere. The wind and your breath (well for me it was Adam's breath) are the only thing you can focus on. Blood-rushing to your brain, numb feet and overwhelmness crashes into you like the waves crashing the sea. horribly bad at describing. mind me. In a nutshell it was a FREAKING AWESOME experience. :) so glad I did it. and I would do it again. and again. (next time without Mama knowing).

haaa, there you go. My trip to the beautiful New Zealand. :)

Hello world!

Today my english lecturer gave us our first big assignment which carries 25 marks.

(inhales . . exhales)

Now I can finally feel the tension. The heat bebeyh.

One thing about ADP is you know where you stand every time you submit an assignment. I prefer this style compared to the system in secondary school.

It is scary. No doubt. But it motivates you to do better all the time. Like you almost have to achieve a perfect score for every assignment.

Oh since its Father's Day this Saturday!! I would like to give a shout out to my dad!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ABAH

My dad has been VERY patient with me. He never gives up on me. He continues to inspire me with his determination to strive in life. We do have our ups and downs. (Mostly downs, lol) but I'm glad we're able to keep it together as a family. :) I love you Abah!

p.s. He is the only who can tolerate my lameness.

Like he will actually layan my lameness. lol

I told myself I have to write at least a new post every week to get my writing flow back.

so what should I write on? hmmm

I think i'll start off with my week,

It was my least favorite week since college started. I had tests and an impromptu essay.

My calculus and chemistry tests were alright in the sense that I felt confident after leaving the classroom.

My impromptu essay was another story all together. It was a nightmare. I've always had this love-hate relationship with English. So you may be wondering what I had to write on. Last Friday, Ms. Alice, my English lecturer made us watch 'Raising Helen'. So on Monday, we had to options: write on the changes that the main character undergo or the differences between the two sisters in the movie.

While doing the essay, I was thinking too much. I don't know, I seem to have so many filters in my brain. To build a sentence takes ages. I'll think of bombastic words or sophisticated ways to phrase my sentence. As a result, I write simple sentences. Your average essay. blrghh.

Enough of me complaining about english.

I've started the ADP at Taylors Lakeside last week. I've said to my friends that I would love to start fresh when I start college. I take that back. Starting college without knowing the people around me was baffling. I was a bit disorientated and maybe still am. I'm so use to everyone greeting me each time we meet.

The classes are alrite. I'm enjoying them. for now. haha I hear stress is gonna visit me soon. hee

My courses for this semester are chemistry, calculus and english.

On the other hand, I should get use to this. I have to start somewhere right? oh and my english partner is a korean! Her name's Miji and she's so stylish. hmm, I think I should get fashion tips from her.

On an unrelated subject, did you know that Adele is only 21? OMG, she's unbelievably amazing!! arghhh.

Today is Mother's Day!

In conjunction to this very special day, I would like to dedicate a post to my awesome mum!

(She doesn't know bout this, but you guys will know how awesome she is, :D)

Like most of you out there, I look up to my mum.

She's like superwoman. She still works and yet she still finds quality time with the family.

One trait of hers which I think highly of is how hard-working she is. She's always wanting to learn new things. and I have to add that she's like this walking encyclopedia. You ask her anything and she's able to give you a complete answer.

Another attribute I look up to is her can-do spirit. She keeps me positive. Self-help books and biographies of famous figures are her best friends. Seriously. She has loads of them.

With this spirit, she was able to push Amir beyond his limits. It took four years for Amir to swim. It wasn't easy. Every weekend she would swim with Amir during his swimming classes. She told me there was a point where she almost gave up because she drove a long way to Amir's swimming class and he didn't want to get in the pool. At first Amir was terrified of the water. Three swimming teachers later, Amir finally settled for Mr. Peter who teaches disabled students. After much coaxing and pushing, in the third year of swimming Amir could float. This was a big step for Amir. My mother was very happy with his performance. FYI, dwarfs are born with larger heads. Thus it's easier for Amir to sink. It takes a lot of effort for him to swim. Today, you throw him into the sea or a lake he's able to swim. We are trying to get him to join the Paralympics next. We'll see how that goes.

Bottom line is, my mum is such an inspiration.

I love you ma. :)

Moving forward from my previous post, things have unfold progressively . I've started working part time as a telemarketer at this event company called Techmex Sdn. Bhd. Thanks to Becky who told me bout the job.

So basically i have to call customers of Siemens Malaysia regarding this Drive Technologies Roadshow held in Penang. I call up these clients and ask them if they have receive the email invitation to the event and confirm their attendance. Besides that, I have to follow up to those who aren't in or busy due to meetings yada yada. the end.

i quite enjoy it because i'm learning something. rather than sit at home and gain more kilos. hehe so far Judith (awesome lady who happens to me Becky's Aunt) has taught me how to use Microsoft Excel. before this, i knew very little. Also, I have to say God has His way of doing things. I have telephobia with strangers which means I have fear of talking on the phone with strangers. Ironically I landed a job which requires me to communicate with strangers. hah.

Lately things have been boring. let's just say my days are becoming more and more unproductive. i feel like i need to live again. i can't imagine how people can stay at home for a long period of time. or maybe it's just me. i wake up at 10 am everyday. sometimes 12. and that's half day wasted. gone. kapoof. didn't realise how a day can pass by so easily. the good part is. . well . . so far i've learned how to cook simple dishes mainly veggies la. and the rest of the day is spent rotting in front of the laptop looking through facebook, twitter, wedding sites (don't judge), catching up on grey's (still have one more episode to go) and. . . i don't know really. someone should do a study on boredom. really. or maybe there is something somewhere out there. I've a month left till I start college. totally excited. and nervous. and excited. ok i've said that already.

I know I'm suppose to be careful of what I complain about but let me just banter about my day. about my life. just this once. i promise. or not. i don't know. blrgh.

Little Piece of Home

Let me tell you a story. . .

I've never really thought of going of to National Service until the day they announced the list of people who got accepted.

So I didn't know what to feel and how to react.

It was an in-between feeling.

Do you call that confusion?

Maybe.

Slowly, I turned it into a positive feeling.

After all, we wrote a letter to a 'cousin' to convince him or her to go for NS. ;)

As the date crept nearer, a feeling of dread crept upon me too.

Do I really want to go?

Everyone else around me is going to start college.

And I'm attending NS.

It's my first time away from home for a long time.

I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous as heck.

Underneath that layer of nervousness, exited me wants to unleash herself.

I'm looking forward meeting new friends from all over Malaysia.

I'm looking forward to be independent. I hear its liberating.

I'm looking forward to learn new things and push myself to achieve more than I can imagine.

Lastly, I want to thank all my friends who have wished me well. So many of you have texted and make time to spend with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Will miss you guys!

2010 was an interesting year for me.

i covered all emotions on the emotion spectrum

there was one point I was very happy and other point, depressed.

i was forced to step outside my comfort zone and be a man.

friends and family support has been such a tremendous help.

Closing yet another chapter of your life is also another story.

I'm proud to say that choosing SMKDU was the best decision I've ever made.

There has been so many good and bad memories which I'll cherish.

So many life lessons learned and true friendship forged.

I'm going to miss my school years :(

Make new resolutions.

Now, now. . . resolutions.

I have yet to sit down and write down specifically what I plan to achieve.

I've been too ambitious and this time I'm going to go with the flow.

My main objective for 2011 is to DO more.

i think its this Post-SPM syndrome.

so here's something for the sake of updating.

1. Practically lived in shopping malls last week.

2. Eat God-knows-what, yes i've put on weight. boo. gotta fix that soon

3. read! okay this is something i'm happy bout. haha. i thought i lost it. maybe i was to tired with reference books. pfft.

4. Watch a truckload of movies. hehe.

5. been waking up late. and rotting in front of the laptop. slowly getting hook to tumblr. BAD! i know. ergh. i can spent hours on it.

6. prepared breakfast for the siblings. hahaha. my scramble eggs r awesome k? :) adam was like 'what do you want from me?' hahaha

7. had my cousins over. had a blast. baked cakes for two days. nom nom. painted their nails. played modeling. swam. basically enjoyed it.

8. had ma homies over. we were practically zombies the next day n some sick. eek. sorry. nevertheless it was indeed fuuuunnnn.

9. swam a lot.

10. cleaned up the library. i realised how many books i have. daymm.

The Beginning of The End

Today I took my black-belt test and passed! *grins like a little kid*

There's more to that statement than you would think.

I first entered the Tae Kwan Do class when I was 9 years young. At that age, i was super clueless of what i was suppose to do. i probably thought kicking and punching was useful when fighting with adam (-_-) Every Sunday my kiasu mum would sent both Adam and me for classes. We have in fact moved locations thrice; SKDU, SMKDU and currently the BU3 Hall. We saw people joining and leaving halfway but we stayed through. oh how i'm so glad i did stay.

Few years back, my mum woke both Adam and I to deliver a sad news. Master Sonny, my Tae Kwan Do instructor passed away after he fell from a motorcycle. I was 12 or 13. It felt like a dream or maybe I wanted it to be dream. I couldn't process that news. Now let me tell you a lil' bit bout him, he was one of the people I truly admired. He was a well-built man for a 50-year-old with salt-and-pepper hair. He was an optimistic and a jovial man too. Every time after class he would joke around with us. He even encouraged my mum to enroll Amir in to strengthen Amir's back as he needed it. He suggested that I go for more competitions to gain more experience.

We attended his funeral service to pay our last respect for him. I saw his peaceful face in the coffin for the last time. He was dressed in his best suit. I said my prayer for him and the three of us left after expressing our condolences to his family. In the car, I cried. As I said I couldn't process that emotion. I clearly remember that day, I was looking out watching as the cars passed and salt water poured out of my eyes. I cried like a baby.

I miss him. R.I.P Master Sonny.

So there you go, as one more chapter of my life closes, one more opens to a brand new future I am looking forward too.

Soon is coming.

If you're cramming facts and figures in your head and feel like taking a break, go ahead and read this beautifully written piece by Frank Chimero.

How long is a happy? I think you can probably deduce a lot about a person from their answer. A moment? A day? A life? Right now, I think it’s very short little moments all strung together like pearls on a necklace. Maybe you don’t get big happys until you’re older. Maybe not. I don’t know. I suppose I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they grow in size as I get older.

I don’t know how happiness is measured. It seems silly to ask “How happy are you?” On a scale of what to what? “Oh, you know, on a scale between Found Dime and Three-Day Weekend, I’d say I’m about an Ice Cream Cone of happy.”

Certain things die when you count them. I don’t want metrics on my joy. But, I can understand the appeal of the idea: lots of us seem to think that if you force data through logic, you get control. But, it doesn’t always work that way because people are emotional and not always logical. Pancakes for dinner tonight made me happy. Pancakes for dinner tomorrow night will make me sad. And the logic machine smokes and overheats.

I used to play hide and seek with my niece. It was fun and infuriating. She’s not very good at hiding, so I’d have to pretend that I didn’t see her. “Where is she? Where could she be?” I’d stumble around the house. Eventually, she’d get so impatient she’d yell hints. “I’m not over there!” or “Come upstairs!” or “You’re on the wrong side of the room!” After more of my poor seeking, she’d get frustrated, pop out and say “I’m over here!”

It was more fun that way than if I had seriously looked for her. And maybe happiness is a bit paradoxical like that: if you stop pursuing it, there are fewer places for it to hide. You just have to be listening when it says “I’m over here!”

So hello there.

after such a looong time of not updating, i had a sudden need to express my feelings.

so some may know or not know that Adam, mon frère performed for the KLPAC PESS BAND Music Exchange last sunday. I am so proud of him. He did good. They showcased theme songs and broadways numbers in the course of an hour under two uber talented conductors. Speaking of conductors, remember Brian? the music maestro whom I've had an honor to learn from. Sadly he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. And and guess what, I met him at Adam's concert. Of course he looked so thin, the chemo just took away his weight. Nevertheless, he looked upbeat and I'm so happy for him. To whomever who's reading this, let's not neglect our health. We have to be careful of what we put in out mouth.

Also, as I watched the orchestra play there's this feeling that tugs me. I know how it feels to play in an orchestra which in latin means 'a dancing place' (how cute) There is a sense of belonging which I dearly miss. There's more to sounding as one. We create sounds that can make a man cry. (or not, haha) seriously, when each person plays their parts, the notes just fit in perfectly like the enzyme and its substrate, yin and yang. well bottom line is, i crave playing in an orchestra. crazyshit miss playing ok. phew. hahaha i got all emotional when the orchestra played. teared up a bit. heh. pls God after SPM, I want to be in one. ASAP!thanks.

Kids-sitting Tips

Today I have decided to share some handy tips on kids-sitting. Well more like suggestions of activities you can do together with your cousins or nephews n nieces.

Disclaimer: This applies to age group of 6-10 year olds.

1. Baking Cookies

Kids love hands-on activities especially if it involves the kitchen. Let them decorate the cookies however they want. Have them wearing aprons , they feel important. Don't forget to set ground rules as you don't want them to step all over your head.

2. Arts and Crafts

I would recommend necklace-making, cards, colouring here and there. Make fun stuff like crowns, necklace etc. Kids love colourful things. oh stickers stickers! yes they love stickers too.

3. Movie Date

So not just teens n adults go for movie dates. Apprently kids go for them too. Find time to watch movies during late nights, of course on weekends only as they are kids. Obviously they ejoy cartoons but if you opt for a non-cartoon show go for family shows like The Toothfairy , Karate Kid. Sometimes teen movies are okay as long as they are 'safe' to watch like Stick it.

4. Story Telling

This is pretty cliche but it works. They say kids have really unlimited imagination so use this as a platform for them to illustrate thier creativity. Sometimes I would start a story and my cousins will continue and they go on and on and on. Don't be surprise having cows and spaceships in these stories. :) Another suggestion is that you be the storyteller - narrate a story from a book with different expressions and intonations as well as exaggerated hand gestures.

5. Spelling Bee Contest / Trivias

If you have 3-4 kids to babysit this activity usually works. Spelling Bee Contest can be fun if everyone participates. I tried doing this activity a couple of times and my cousins love it. They are very competitive in nature. If you have sweets as gifts that'd be better.

So there you go. These tips are all from my experience from babysitting my cousins on weekends (sometimes) and hopefully it's helpful. It may work or might not but no harm trying right? i will stop here for now.

Today's the fifth day of Ramadhan and I hope it's not too late to wish all my Muslim friends, Selamat Berpuasa! Just to share some information on Ramadhan with you, it is derived from the arabic word Ramadana which denotes intense heat, scorching ground and shortness of rations. The muslims don't only fast from before sunrise to sunset but Ramadhan is a time for us to reflect on ourselves and increase our ibadat. (Worship and obedience) This is the month for renewing our commitment and re-establishing our relationship with our Creator.

My mother has only been an avid reader. Naturally she wanted her kids to have the same interest. According to my mother, I started reading at an early age of six. My first official 'thick' book was from the Enid Blyton collection. I had a strange habit then; I would usually skip stories involving animals. (i promise you i have nothing against animals maybe I found humans more appealing then) Looking back at the books I read, my taste for books has certainly evolve. I used to collect Nancy Drew, Jean Ure, Mary-Kate Ashley and Madison Finn.

Anyway, so my mother would write one-line message at the front page of the books she buys for us. I find it comforting. So today I'll share with you some of her comforting words:

Making choices indeed scares the heck out of me.

I came back from the US App Two-Day Workshop at the Taylors Lakeside Campus feeling pumped up about studying abroad which in this case applies to US.

Someone from the crowd today asked the facilitators of the workshop: what drives them during the whole process of applying because it can be pretty stressful?

And Hobart, a rising freshmen of Yale answer struck a chord in me. "Knowing there's something at the end of the road keeps you going. You are rewarded at the end of the journey"

well it was not exactly his word but something along that line la. That's so true, i mean what is the whole point of learning after all? we'd become zombies at the end of the day

Also, one of the facilitators *winks* mentioned that people tend to fall for the idea of a job/career and not the content of the idea, which got me thinking twice (how many times?) of the choices of careers I intend to pursue in. And the volunteers touched on ECA and passion was brought up. got me thinking again! argh confused. *sigh*

wtheck if i had my way, here's what I really want to do:

Environment-related jobs. I'm not 100% sure but I do know I enjoy doing environment-related matters. For example the Green Week which was held sometime back in March in school was my lil contribution to Mother Earth. clearly it wasn't an easy project; trying to convince the administrators, driving the team and paper works. but on top of that, i found it fulfilling. I was glad that I could speak to my peers about ways to conserve our earth and share my passion. Trust me there were more brilliant ideas thought off but knowing the admins (sadly), they couldn't be carried out.

My dream is to set up a company which promotes environmental education for kids and youths which involves hands-on projects, workshops and field trips. Not your boring-lame kind of stuctured projects but creative ones like building a solar powered hut, making art out of trash (probably common). Discussions during workshops are very much encouraged because they not only boosts you self-esteem but allows you to speak out and generate new ideas. I also plan to venture into research which lacks in Malaysia. We are gifted with lush green forest so I say why don't we make the most out of it. so the company it's not only to educate the kids n youth but also for professionals.

So phew there you go, that's what i secretly want to do. (not a secret anymore i guess)

Back to reality - that dream sounds really far away but I do hope it comes true in one way or another. Insya Allah. Amin.

I had so much of fun last night , karaoke-ing at Red Box with four of my closest friends, Jean, Athia, Kar Men & Munirah! The occasion was to celebrate Athia's 17th Birthday. Thank you to Aunty Kar who paid for all of us!

We sang (more like screaming at the top of our lungs) like no one cared, danced to Micheal Buble, Justin Bieber , stuffed ourselves with the appetizing buffet and just enjoyed ourselves.

You know how awkward things get when you do that in front of certain people and it feels uncomfortable. Well yesterday i felt like it was alright for me to just let loose and go crazy. So make sure you go with the right people because it's ok to just go nuts for a while. hahaha

Most of you might notice that I have deactivated my facebook account. It has been a week and I'm glad I did it. I'm feeling the affects of it and one of the them is using the internet productively. This sounds really dumb when I type it out but I never knew that the internet was this handy like renewable energy. haha seriously, there are so much information out here. Before I write any further bout the prefect's event, I would like to re-quote Jessica's graduation speech from Eclipse (don't worry no spoilers) which sums up how I feel at this moment or for that matter all those confused people out there.

When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were thing like astronaut, president, or in my case… princess.

When we were ten, they asked again and we answered – rock star, cowboy, or in my case, gold medalist. But now that we’ve grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how ’bout this: who the hell knows?!

This isn’t the time to make hard and fast decisions, its time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love – a lot. Major in philosophy ’cause there’s no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent.

So yesterday, I finally stepped down as the Secretary of SMKDU Prefectorial Board 2009/2010. *FREEDOM* I am finally free from minutes and surat panggilan! :) Through out carrying out my duties, I am humbly thankful of my beyond-awesome assistant, Rebecca Toh who has worked with me side by side with patience and dedication. You don't want to know how much blurness she had to tolerate. (hehe)

My high school life wouldn't be as colorful if not for prefects. It has taught me valuable life lessons. I'm def going to miss working with this bunch of people.

I took part in the Standard Chartered KL Marathon yesterday. And no I didn't run but I and 20 of my EDC family members cheered for the runners! We were located at the edge of Pavillion from 6.30 A.M (Yes it was so EARLY) till 8.30a.m. First time in EDC history I'm proud to say we played non stop for almost two hours straight.

My fingers hurt afterwards but my heart and head couldn't take the amount of fun and joy in. It was like all the tiredness disappeared and the beat took control of my hips and feet. I was in the moment! Moving to the beat, cheered like mad and laughed a lot! All the numbness from playing was totally worth it. We won first for the cheer competition btw!! woot :)

More importantly, I felt the love from each and everyone of the EDC members. I call them my family because they are the closest people after my own biological family. Besides sharing the same passion; environment and music, we support each other in different ways. I am glad I grew up with the group. From EDC, I became more confident in myself and really know how to appreciate life in ways you can't imagine.

I'll be taking a break from EDC till SPM finishes!

(tak sabar, time pls fly faster) I'm def gonna miss that feeling of music in the blood. :(

Change of Taste

As you read this you won't miss the new lay out of my blog. I gave it another makeover. Let me know what you think of it, too cheesy perhaps?

One week of holidays is gone. kapoot. so fast. What did I achieve:

1. I caught up with movies and tv shows.

I finished the first season of Glee!! I don't plan to give away spoilers since I did that for Grey's (Sorry Amalina and Yi Jean) Let me just say it gave me goosebumps the whole time in a good way. They were that good. And I watched Prince of Persia , Sherlock Holmes , Did you Hear About the Morgans , and The Rebound.

I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes. It was intriguing and I felt involved in the movie. haha seriously, i was trying to solve the mystery along the way. FYI, I have a collection of Nancy Drew Series, The Hardy Boys and a few of The Famous Five books. I started out with mystery books and as time passed I moved on to romance. But yeah, i still have that thing for mystery books. :)

I also watched The Rebound which stars Catherine Zeta Jone and JUSTIN BARTHA! homygod. he is absolutely handsome. he reminds me of George fom Grey's.

He resembles George in many ways; the way he speaks and even his looks . Anyhow, the movie was sweet. It showed that any relationship is possible. Btw, Justin Bartha's not available. He's currently dating Ashely Olsen. :(

2. Took the initative to loose some kgs.

Adam and I went cycling around TTDI. It was totally worth the sweat. I plan to cycle some more this week maybe up to TTDI Hills. They've got a fantastic view of up there. Planning to take some photos. :) Also I had breakfast with Kar Men at the Salad Bar last friday.

(Thanks you Kar Men) That place might just be my favourite place. They've got refreshing salad , scrumptios sandwich and must-try soups. Don't worry you won't feel guilty when you're full because it's all healty food.

3. Nearly there with the INTI i-Challenge

I think we have reached the 1000 kg criteria. I am so happy that some people took the time to contribute to the environment. you may be wondering, What the heck am I talking about? Well , my school is taking part in the INTI i-Challenge. To enter prelimanary round we had to collect 1000kg or more. So I chose 7 societies to help out, BSMM, St.Johns, Scouts, Girl Guides, Leo, Interact and SejGeoAlamSekitar. This is all to save the Belom-Temenggor Forest which is older than the Amazon Forest.

4. Followed 40% of the schedule.

I was on laidback mode last week but this week I mean business. I plan to master my form four syllabus for biol0gy, chem and physics. Wish me luck.

I never really went into detail why I love him so much . Well today's the day I'm going to tell you why I love him deeply. Seriously. Where do I start?

Firstly he has a noble heart. He is what you call a true musician. He wants to entertain people for the sake of people's happiness. Once he held a free concert for the people in San Diego as a token of appreciation for their support. I mean which artist does that. Also, he is a fantastic song-writer. He's lyrics are so poetic and has that modern twist to it. It's not as complicated as english lit but so beautifully written. I'm going to share some of my favs:

Jason is an avid environmentalist too. He shares his eco-stories on his blog. (yes folks, it's really him and not some guy who's trying to con you) Late last year he installed solar panels in his 5-acre Avocado Grove and he mentioned that he feels better that he's not using electricity. oh you could read about his outfit he wore to Grammy's here. He also sells rad water bottles.

The fact the he gives back to the community makes me fall in love with him so much more. You can head over to his blog to read some more on some of his humanitarian work.

How can you not fall for this guy? He's so optimistic about life.

Beautiful Day

Hi there.

Lots have been happening since I last wrote here.

For instance, Lee just yesterday was crowned the 9th American Idol. I am so happy for him. Apparently he had two singles out before he entered Idol. So he's in a way one step ahead from Crystal. Nevertheless Mamasox is going to shine in her very own way. I have been rooting for her since the very beginning. Ok , so maybe I did fall in love with Lee along the way but not as much i love Crystal. It was also sad to see Simon leaving the show. You can't deny it, no matter how much you cringe to hear his comments, sometimes he is the reason people watch american Idol. The finale too was full of surprises; the winners of each season minus Cook , Paula's appearance( I miss Paula!) and the rest of the star-studded performances.

Moving on, I have another week of exams and I can't wait for the holidays. So excited, i have some program planned out for myself. A new me is going to be born. hahaha i hope. aiyah selalu hangat-hangat tahi ayam wor. i seriously hope this happens. I need to buck up on my performance. I miss being able to love studying. Now it's so hard to even sit still and read. argh. blame it one my short attention span. and the laptop. sure. -.-

I also want to tell you bout the things that have been going around me. Dahlia who is a dear cousin to me turned 10 last week. ah two digit number is awesomee! haha. She celebrated her birthday party with some friends at Kiara Club where my birthday was held. :) Enjoy some photos taken. I also took some photos of her in black and white. classic. love 'em.

Now, another thing I should mention is I have found a new love.

Grey's Anatomy Finale!! Did you watch it?! OMG OMG! Unbelievably good. so goood! it was an emotional roller coaster for me. Got me sitting at the edge of the seat during those intense moments. I even watched it twice, the second with Adam. (this is those time when I love him so much) If you have not watch it, don't read the following.

So where do I begin? When Reed got shot point-blank at the head. Wow! I knew things were gonna turn ugly. And seeing poor Alex dragging himself into the elevator was painful. Did you see how much blood there was?

Bailey is EPIC. Chandra Wilson delivered a poignant performance. Thus she deserves an Emmy or and Oscar. Did you see her frustration when the elevators didn't work? She couldn't get Percy to the OR and I fell in love with her more when she stayed by Percy till he died.

Percy: I don't hurt anymore. The pain's gone. That's a bad sign isn't it?
Bailey: Yes.

Besides that, Derek was shot and seeing All-Grown Mer pleading to her husband to not die was heart breaking. It was one of my favourite grey's quote.

Meredith: I pick you, I chose you. You don't get to die on me!

Now now my favourite character *drum rolls* CRISTINA YANG. Hardcore Kiasu Yang. if bailey is epic, Yang is beyond epic. What a stellar performance. The scene in the OR where she was threatened by the shooter was my favourite of the nite. The way she cried out to Owen saying she had to go on because she can't loose Derek, her best friend's husband. She couldn't allow Derek to die or else a part of Mer will die too. It showed how much she could work under a lot of stress.

I love the two of them together. :)

Before I end this, I have to say on top of all the shooting going on, the most heart-breaking thing of the two-hour episode was definitely Mer's miscarriage. You could see Mer crying inside. She was ready for the baby but instead all of the shitty stuff happened and the fetus dies. blergh.

So there you go. Pardon me for the long post. I can be very emotional bout grey's because it is one of the things I have been following since I was 13. I think the season ended with a bang. Woot.

Turning Seventeen

Yesterday still feels like a dream. No joke.

To celebrate with the people whom I love very much was such a joy. I can't thank my parents enough for pulling off such an awesome surprise party. Yes I was def surprise - I could have gotten a minor heart attack. Of course they had a few accomplices. A BIG FAT THANK YOU to those who have helped my parents in making the party a success!

I wasn't totally blind. I mean I did catch a few hints here and there. Although I didn't imagine it to be such on such a grand scale. I'll tell you what I thought :

I thought the celebration only involved my family on Sunday nite.

And the surprise was both my dad and mum's side was coming.

Instead,

my classmates , closest friends , EDC , BSMM and relatives were there to join me. It felt surreal. I swear to God my jaw hurts from smiling too much on that night hahaha It was really sweet of my mum to choose the theme , 'Anything Jason Mraz'. Everyone was dressed in Blue! ! Perty perty.

The party was filled with impromptu performances by my ever talented friends, Amalina, Nik, Aishah, Ila , Munirah, Kar Men, Athia , Hashveena and Ebrahim! You guys rocked my night. To both Adila and Ikmal who hosted the party, you guys did an amazing job given the short notice. THANK YOU!!

Last but not least, THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAME AND MADE MY DAY!! :D

On another note, I have exams soon. like real soon. so I'll be taking a break from blogsphere for a lil while. I hope. hahaha

i have to get back to packing. got distracted by Idol Gives back for two hours. Talk about being distracted. :)

Before I sign off, I have recently decided to brand my name on my photography work. It felt right to do it because looking back at those pictures I took with my name on it, make me sound professional. hahahaha. aiyah, must feel good la when you see your work. don't you agree? it gives me a certain kind of motivation to work harder and strive to do better in the future.

Isha's 8th party was held at my place yesterday. I'm so happy for her, she's growing so mature by the day. It was her first party and you could tell by the radiant that glowed from her face. :)

(kena cari outfit skarang :) i wish we'll stay good friends as long as i can possible live. i know this is so cliche but it is true. people change over time but we gotta keep that friendship going and i'm glad we're working on it. No matter what happens, i'll have your back. To long lasting friendship, love. :)

90% of the trip was spent shopping.

All of our bags were going to explode due to the excessive amount of clothing.

Fortunately they didn't.

Jalan Dago, Rumah Mode and Pasar Baru were some of the places we visited. They have lots of factory outlets which sells reasonably cheap comfy clothing.

I got myself

two pairs of jeans,

a cargo pants,

two short sleeve shirts,

3 pairs of boxer shorts,

two cardigans

a pair of black flats.

On the 2nd Day we stayed in Puncak which is situated between Jakarta and Bandung. Puncak is almost like Cameron Highlands but 10 times better. Really, the view from our villa was refreshing and gave the head a peace of mind.

While Jakarta is 3 times KL. And in between soaring skyscrapers,shopping malls and gated housing areas there are squatters which houses more than 7 million people. Jakarta is also known for their 'machet' which means traffic jam. And most Indonesians use the motorcycle. So they are like a lot of motorcycles. Food-wise, they have more fried food than non-fried food. The taste is more distinct compared to Malaysian food. Like you can taste all the spices they put. All in all it was good break for me. :)

Busy as a Bee

This week is insane.

I came back from Bandung on a late Sunday nite. Then stayed up for a couple more hours to finish up my speech for the opening ceremony. I have to thank my mother, (most probably she's not going read this but you never know) who stayed up with me to edit the speech.

We were both so dead tired from the whole trip, well more like shopping spree. :)

(I shall save that for later)

So what's the deal? Well, Green Week has finally kick off in SMKDU. *jumps for joy* It feels good that I could finally contribute something towards the school with the help of my super duper hardworking friends: Hashveena , Rebecca, Munirah, Afiq, Chan Heng and not forgetting the ever-supportive Pn. Rafidah. She's like the backbone of the programme. I have been waiting eagerly for this week to happen and wham! Along came Green Week. whoopdeedoop. :)

Did you knw the school library can be such a comfortable place to take a 10-minute nap?

This happened yesterday. After reading Reader's Digest, I decided to finish my maths homework. Somehow a quarter way writing, I leaned my head against the table. Slowly I entered DreamLand. But seriously, it felt really good after getting up.

I have been working on the green week presentation with the help of the committee members of the Green Week for these past few days. Finally it's going to happen. Well it's not exactly confirmed yet but some green activities have been approved by Cikgu Ismail. I can't wait! :)

What a fun fun day! After the picnic we (Athia, Hashveena and I) headed over to Athia's place for some music-lovin'-feel-good session. hahaha Munirah joined 40 mins later and we rocked her house! I think the ASTRO guy who came to install the HD was a lil' freaked out. Nonetheless we rocked our socks off, didn't we?

Later, we watched 'Orphan' and 'American Haunting'. err well at least for them. I watched Orphan and a quarter of American Haunting. Scary mary. I'm not a fan of thriller/horror shows. nope not a fan at all. Thanks Athia, Mun & Hash! I wished some of our friends were there. :( Till next time.

I took some more photos of my lil cousins, Fatin and Batrisyia. Couldn't resist capturing their cheekiness , they are too adorable. I shall it sum it as up as follow :

Later in the night, I had a solo session with Isha only. Fatin was fast asleep by then. She was probably too tired. Isha on the other hand couldn't get some shut eye. So she decided to do KUMON in in the middle of the night. This is what we call pandai tak bertempat. hahaha Anyway, so while she did that, I grabbed the opportunity to play with some light; Amazing light. :)

One of the reasons why I love Isha is that she is so natural in front of the camera.

Her silly faces are epic. I should have a book for that. haha

You may be wondering 'what the heck? Why did she take a picture of a pencil'. Well friends that's because I love details. That's when we say, little things counts.

I came back from school today.

Walked into my room.

The dashing Nikon Bag under the table caught my eye.

I needed to get hold of him.

Randy Pausch

Dear friends,

Today I finished a beautiful book written by Dr. Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture. Instead of my biology text book that I should be reading , I couldn't resist the temptatation to finish the inspring book. This book brought me to tears. Before I go on, let me just introduce you to Randy Pausche.

He was a professor of Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction and Deseign at Carneige Mellon University.

He taught at the University of Virgina for 9 years.

He was an award-winning teacher and reasercher based on his incredible works with Adobe, Google and and even Walt Disney Imagineering.

He was married to Jai Pausch with three kids, Dylan, Logan and Chloe,

Here's the sad part, he suffered from Pancreatic Cancer and passed away on July 26th 2008.

I came to know of this book from my mother who loves inspritational books like this one. I have been reading it before I go to bed and towards the end of the book, it was so hard for me to put it down.

I truly admire Randy's optimism when dealing with cancer.In his book he shares his journey and words of wisdom especially for his kids and wife, Jai. There's a part in the book where he said, "It pains me to think that when they are older, they won't have a father." He also dedicated a chapter for his kids called 'Dream for my Children'. In this chapter, he mentioned that he was going to spent as much time as possible with his kids so that his kids remember him as clearly as possible. Besides that, he said his dreams of his children is to find their own fulfillment. Find their own passion and enthuthiasm. "I want you to become what you want to become"

I have to applaud his wife as well, Jai whom has been ever-supportive of him. He describes her as cancer caregiver. On top of that she has to take care of three kids which is tough.

You MUST read the book and watch some of his last lectures on you tube. Trust me on this. :)
